Privacy policy
What CodeMIRAI keeps about you, why, and how to have it deleted. In short: very little, no ads, and nothing is sold.
Who we are
CodeMIRAI (codemirai.com) is a free website for learning to code. Questions about this policy go to our contact page or officialcodemirai@gmail.com.
Without an account
You can use every lesson, quiz, challenge, game and the playground without signing in. Your progress, XP, badges, playground files and settings are then kept only in your own browser (its local storage). We never receive them.
If you sign in
You can sign in with Google, GitHub or Discord. The provider you choose tells us your name, email address, profile picture and an account number for you. We keep these with your progress (lessons, quiz and exam results, challenges, game scores, badges and XP) and your playground files, so they follow you to any device. We never see your password for those services.
Signing in sets one cookie, cm_session, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It holds a random
code, not your details. While you sign in, a second short-lived cookie protects the sign-in against forgery. We use no
advertising or tracking cookies.
Messages you send us
The contact form sends us your name, email address, topic and message, and the page you came from. We use them only to reply to you, and keep them only as long as we need to deal with your message.
The AI helper
When you ask Mira, the AI helper, to explain code or write practice questions, what you send (your code, its error and output, or the course and topic) goes to our AI provider (Google's Gemini or Anthropic's Claude) to produce the answer. Please don't put personal information in code you send. Free AI services may use what they receive to improve their models.
Running code
Most code runs entirely inside your browser. A few languages may be compiled on our server; that code is sent there to run and is not kept.
Services we rely on
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its database and protects it from attacks.
- Google, GitHub and Discord handle sign-in when you choose them.
- Google (Gemini) or Anthropic (Claude) answer the AI helper's requests.
- jsDelivr and Google Fonts serve the code editor, the in-browser runtimes and the fonts.
Like any website, these services see your IP address when your browser contacts them. We also use your IP address for a few minutes to stop abuse, such as too many messages at once; it is not stored with your account.
What we never do
We don't sell your data, show ads, or share your information with anyone except the services above, and only as far as they need it to work.
Deleting your data
Signed in, open the menu under your picture and choose Delete account. That removes your account, your saved progress and files, and your sessions from our database at once. You can also clear your browser's site data to remove what's stored there. For anything else, contact us or on Discord.
Children
CodeMIRAI suits learners of all ages. Children under 13 should use it with a parent's permission, and signing in follows the age rules of Google, GitHub or Discord.
Changes
